About the Election
2021 is election year with the communities around the state going to the polls on 4 December 2021 to decide on their Council elect for the next three years. A total of 124 councils will be holding elections on Saturday, December 4 after the NSW government made the decision to postpone the elections amidst the state’s COVID outbreak in July 2021.
Residents of the Upper Hunter Shire LGA will vote to elect nine councillors who, once elected, will similarly determine the mayor of the shire at the council’s first meeting following the election. Postal vote applications can be lodged with the NSW Electoral Commission from Tuesday, October 26.
The list of candidates are here.
Please note: The Chamber holds no affiliation with any candidate from a political standpoint. While James Burns, Councillor, sits on the Chamber board, he does so as a business owner and community representative. Due to the potential conflict of interest, this may hold. Crn Burns has not been part of the organisation or coordination of this event.
This is a time to give candidates the opportunity to speak in a public forum and also answer questions from the community. The forum will be moderated and any inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.
COVID Safe
Please note that this will be a COVID safe event. All Government guidelines and restrictions will be adhered to including those regarding vaccination, group gatherings, masks etc. For the most up to date information on COVID rules visit https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/stay-safe/rules
