Michael Johnsen, Member for Upper Hunter, today reminded local sporting clubs to apply for the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program before the 11 February 2016 deadline. Grants applications had opened on 26 November 2015.
Mr Johnsen said the Program aims to increase regular and on-going participation in sport and active recreation.
“This Local Sport Grant Program provides funding for sports clubs in Upper Hunter and across NSW,” said Mr Johnsen.
“Whether it be funding towards training programs to secure more volunteer coaches or helping with that much-needed change room upgrade, these grants are designed to encourage more people to keep active.”
There are four project types within the Program, these being:
- Sport Club Development;
- Community Sport Events;
- Sport Access; and
- Facility Development and Capital Equipment.
“We all know that sport is incredibly important for health and wellbeing, as well as bringing people in the community together, so I would encourage all our local sporting clubs to explore the grant options that are available,” Mr Johnsen continued.
“I would strongly encourage our local sporting clubs community to get their applications in before 11 February 2015, so clubs can help get more locals involved in sport and recreation activities,” Mr Johnsen concluded.
